Mom's 1942 Blog

"As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you or forsake you." (Joshua 1:5)

Today, as I am watching Mother work her magic in her garden I am reminded of why we started writing her blog. In the first place it was my way of honoring her. And in the retelling of her life story may her children and grandchildren, and those who will come after them, know the extraordinary woman she was and still is today. Having survived two wars as a little girl, the cruelty of her captors inside a POW camp, a kidnapping attempt as a teenager, running from a murderer (her Mammie witnessed the slayings), and finally conquering breast cancer, she never lost hope for mankind and faith in her God.

"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. So we say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?'" (Hebrews 13:5,6)

We would like to give her blog a few more readers, so please join us, and perhaps find other survivors who might have lived in the same POW camp in Soerabaja--an old sugar factory called Twejeng. Nevertheless, her blog is something we would like to publish ( most likely self-publish with WinePress) so that this little piece of history is not lost. Thanks for reading.
