Thirteen Blessings This Friday

Happy Friday 13th! You do know, of course, there is no such thing as bad luck, don't you? No, my friends, God is in control. Thank Him for the trials in your life and see what happens. We don't grow without them. And I will take my own advise. Here are thirteen blessings which I probably should have put on a Thursday Thirteen meme, but I forgot.

Blessing #1: My son went to the beach with his church friends. S'mores and all that stuff. He doesn't get to do that very often.

Blessing #2: My daughter is home. She is relaxing her mind, body, soul and spirit before her second hectic year in college. Opa (Grandpa) has even bought her a pool (4ft by 15ft. diam) to weather the desert heat.

Blessing #3: Oma and I cleaned house together and sang Hawaian songs. Well, we tried. Opa and Oma are such a wonder in our lives. Where would we be without them? Probably still living on the street.

Blessing #4: I will thank the Lord for my X-husband. Yes I will. After all, a divorce is never the fault of just one. And he loves both his children and he supports them in all that they do and financially. You go Dad. Most awesome artist too.

Blessing #5: I woke up early this morning to the singing of birds. In the desert!!! Little red chested sparrows. I think they're after our apples.

Blessing #6: For author G.P. Taylor who blesses me with his emails and his books. If he never writes another book let it be known he has blessed us enough. Keep smiling Rev. Graham.

Blessing #7: I am so grateful for all the single moms in my church who have uplifted me this morning by joining our Bible study/support group this Sunday. Food!

Blessing #8: Bloggie friends with true wisdom like Lady G. Bloggies like Sharon Lynn who leave comments just to say hi, I'm praying for you, and have a good day. Who would not be blessed? Bloggies like The Bluest Butterfly who linked to one of my posts.

Blessing #9: Strangers who leave awful comments and then say sorry.

Blessing #10: My brother and his wife for letting my son stay with them for a few days so he won't be bored. Cousins who love us are blessings too (here and abroad).

Blessing #11: Great neighbors who will knock on the door anytime now to say "come have some lunch." They always have fresh hot tamales. Yummmmm. Burning tongue!!!! Got water?

Blessing #12: The sun is peeking through my plantation blinds but it stays cool in our house. It's 100 degrees and we don't need air conditioning yet. We don't get it but thank the Lord for the coolness.

Blessing #13: God is still mindful of me. Me!? Why me? I read King David's prayer this morning before I did anything else and he felt the same . . . .

Who am I, O lord God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? And as if this were not enough in your sight, O God, you have spoken about the future of the house of your servant. You have looked on me as though I were the most exalted of men, O lord God...There is no one like you, O Lord, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. (1 Chronicles 17:16-20)

Count your blessings today.

You're most welcome, and thank you. It's nice to have "community" online, helping each other out.
