Mom And Me
This is the fun part of research--coming across those special photographs. Mom's in the foreground and I'm just a thought in the background. People say I look like her. I sure hope so.
Now, if only I could find photographs when she was five. She was a POW in a camp called Twejeng. It was a sugar factory before the war (WWII). I can't seem to find any other information on this factory, though her name is on the list of prisoners. I guess a picture of that list could go in the book. It would be nice, however, to have a picture of Twejeng. Oh well, I'll dig deeper.

I'm fascinated. Can't wait to hear more of this story!
And what a beautiful collage... you made it? I love your picture... maybe this collage could be a great signature piece to use to design your site here. (just a little thought)
Here's what I mean, if I can express it...
run the pic on the side somewhere... run the floral strip of the pic, and maybe more of those tea things, across the top. I'd do it on either a white or very light yellow, or even green blog background (to pick up the colors in the roses/leaves).
Plus, the collage is an interesting way to work with your title "Pieces of Me."
Do you mean kamp Tjeweng, maybe?
From the surroundings of Soerabaja about 1000 (2000?) women, children en men came or were evacuated around the 21st of november 1945 to the sugar factory in Tjeweng.
A lot of information regarding these so-called “bersiapkampen” has been collected and published by wonderful volunteers in the Netherlands on
http://www.bersiapkampen.nl/Bersiapkampen%20alfabetisch.htm
In addition there are several other publications in the Netherlands about the liberation war in Soerabaja which reached its peak on the 10th of november 1945 (now known as Heroes day/hari pahlawan in Indonesia).

My mother and her sisters and my grandmother were in the same camp. I have her letters to my father that she wrote while she was there. Please check if the name Rieborn is on your list. Thank you Marie
