The Monitors

When did computers pop up in our schools anyhow? Yes, I know . . . me, myself and I might be seriously behind the times here. Computers in our schools? Does anyone have a child entering kindergarden, first grade maybe? They're probably doing homework on the computer already, right? Pretty soon we'll be signing school contracts to make sure that said child will behave on the internet. I'm sure there's a little school computer monitoring going on. And so it should.

Are we invading privacy? I'm thinking . . . not. Personally, I would appreciate knowing who's interacting on the internet with my child. If some stranger is emailing my son or daughter, this blogger wouldn't mind getting a copy of that email. Scary thought--what if said children were to email stranger back? Is there software around that could let us know instantly and record that information? Apparently so . . . computer monitoring sounds like a plan to me.
